Prayer for Trinity 2:
whose mercy never fails:
deepen our faithfulness to you
and to your living Word,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 4.13 – 5.1; Mark 3.20-35
The words form Jesus are challenging – do we forsake our families and the 5th commandment?
My conclusion is that we must prioritise our relationship with God, then our families and then others, and each of us will need to negotiate the best path for this. How church is part of this is complicated, in the early church their gatherings were all about God, family and one another, nowadays we have separated these different parts of our lives and so have to work out how best to honour each of these relationships – but the priorities that come from Jesus and are in line with the 10 commandments, are God (Commandments 1-4) Family (Commandment 5) and the wider community (Commandents 6-10).
Unfortunately I forgot to start the recorder this week, but as a bonus offering I shared a new song that I had written and so here is a recording of this new song, based on the words of Psalm 115 it is titled ‘We trust in the Lord’
